Daily SeaGlass – A Therapeutic Photographic Journal

There’s something about the beach that tends to make everything better. It lessens the stressors and makes big things seem less big. The sound of waves rolling over each other on their gradual push toward the shore seems to calm my worries and ease my fears. The beach has often been a place in my life where I’ve gone to meet with Jesus.

The coast here in Nome offers extra joy in the form of delightful nuggets. Bursts of color: blues, greens, browns, reds, and even the rare pinks, they all make my day feel a bit brighter. Seaglass, or beachglass, is such a simple pleasure. But it always brings me back to shore. And it reminds me that our God can take broken things and make them beautiful, once more.

As I was meandering along the beach yesterday, a challenge came to mind. What if I set out to find a piece of seaglass each day? Just one piece, or more, if I were so inclined. It might bring me back to a place of rest and calm, despite the storms and stressors of life.

So, for the next month, I will go out to find a piece each day, no matter the weather, or temperature, or business of life. Call it therapy, call it photography, call it what you will. I call it my Daily SeaGlass.

Stay tuned. 💜
