
One thing I didn’t anticipate when moving to Nome was the huge lack of trees. After three years, I’ve grown a little more accustomed to the wide open landscape, unhindered by majestic, leafy skyscrapers.

But one thing Nome does have an abundance of is tiny, darling, wildflowers. By mid-July this year they were out en-mass, likely a little later due to the massive amount of snow we received this past winter.

So many clumps sit just inches off the ground, but I was able to find a patch of wild irises and star flowers as well.
